Fire Tones, the group formed by firefighters from the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, have received a boost to their fundraising efforts with a donation from Credit Suisse, the Swiss multinational investment bank and financial services company.
This donation has been made as a direct result of the ongoing marketing efforts being carried out by Oswestry-based entrepreneur Mike Harris and his team which is actively supporting the firefighters campaign to achieve the Christmas number one spot with a version of Band Aid’s Do they know it’s Christmas? produced in partnership with fire service personnel from across the country.
Commenting on the donation, a Credit Suisse spokesperson said: “As soon as we heard about this charity fundraising project from Mike Harris it was an easy decision to make a donation. We are pleased to be supporting both the Band Aid Charity Trust and the Firefighters Charity which assists thousands of serving and retired fire service personnel and their families in times of need.”
According to Firefighter Chris Birdsell-Jones, who got this project off the ground after a conversation in a Welshpool bar this time last year: “We would like to extend our thanks to Credit Suisse for this donation which will go a long way towards helping our fundraising efforts.”
Birdsell-Jones continued by stating: “We are also grateful for the invaluable support provided by Mike Harris through The New Saints FC, the champions of the JD Welsh Premier League, and VCW Security which is one of the UK’s leading distributors of IT security solutions. Mike has been enormously enthusiastic about helping us in our quest to reach the Christmas number one spot. Not only has he provided funding to help with the production of the collectable CDs, but he has also put his entire marketing team at our disposal to help drive interest, both online and in the press.”
Do they know it’s Christmas? by Fire Tones is available as a download from iTunes, Spotify and Amazon Music. The single is also available from Amazon Music and HMV as a collectable CD which will also be sold by firefighters outside Tesco stores and at other events to further increase the amount of money generated for the two charities.
